Do you go all out on Christmas gifts for your kids?

both my SO & I never had celebrated Christmas as kids, we come from a family of single moms who really couldn’t afford it.. but would go to families house & see everyone opening literally so many presents.. so naturally we’ve been going all out for our kids.. ages 7 & 5. They do not get toys through the year, & for their birthdays we go on small trips.. I notice this year they already started making an insane Christmas list so I’m thinking maybe we should humble them up a little bit getting one present they want each then Getting them stuff they actually need.

We never got more than one gift for Christmas from our parents. Even when they could afford it. I will be doing the same thing- I find it unnecessary. Each to their own, obviously.

i didn't have kids. Last year for christmas i was pregnant. This year i have my son & he will be 8 months by then. Im def planing on going all out on his & my husband's 2 sons. 🙂 Im already saving up for it & im excited!

If you cant afford it, dont do it. Just have dinner as a family, do something cheap at home as a family. Gifts arent what its about. I usualy get my son 1 thing he needs, 1 book and MAYBE 1 small toy.

No. My kids get one gift from us. Christmas isnt about gifts and I feel like when there's so many it clouds the true meaning and every year they will expect to have a lot.

The last few years we've done Christmas different. We don't make it about all sorts of presents even though the kids think it's "weird" we don't. Haha. Well at first they did but they realize they appreciate / use the things more when they don't get a ton.. They're 12, 9 & 7. 
We do a few gifts for different categories. (Something found on Pinterest and I just changed it to my liking. I'm sure other people did too.) 
Something they can wear. 
Something they want. 
Something they need.
Something they can read. 
Something they can play with. 
This year I might switch it up some. I haven't figured that out yet. But the last few years it's worked out great and everybody was happy.

my family have always gone all out for us on christmas's and birthdays, been like that for couple generations. but they never bought us stuff throughout the year, and they loved to spoil us and give us stuff we've been wanting all year. they had fun with it & im going to do the same 💗 we all grew up fine people so i don't find it unnecessary at all if they gave us things during holidays and christmas when they didn't buy us whatever we wanted throughout the year

Last year, I wrapped up a bunch of stuff we already had in the house that the kids weren’t playing with, hadn’t been age appropriate when we got them, or that they just weren’t taking advantage of and put them under the tree. The kids also got a few new things, but the fun thing about C’mas in my opinion is opening the presents, so there was a lot to open and they were totally spoiled but we didn’t spend much money. Also, all the stuff we had that was collecting dust finally got some love. I’m planning to do this again. And I have to admit, one of these gifts will be on its third round under the tree and it’s still in the box! 🤷‍♀️

I've always preferred experiences over material things. Even as a kid I would get so excited to have my aunts, uncles, and cousins over for a big meal and time to just hang out together. 
Now our traditions include a few thoughtful or handmade gifts for each other and we always hike a local mountain, and have breakfast with husband's side of the family on Christmas. Christmas eve is with my parents and we bake cookies for santa with my sisters and their families. 
We cook a big dinner and invite literally everyone who wants to come on Christmas evening. My husband and I are both first responders and we have a lot of friends in public safety so we usually get a few fire trucks, police cars, game wardens and such that stop by at dinner. The neighbors we actually really concerned the first year we moved in 🤣. We love it, we love spending time with people who mean so much to us.

My fiancé and I don’t really have a Christmas alone together. We go to my grandmas and celebrate with all of my family. We get him one gift and all of my (12) siblings get him at least one gift, my grandma spoils him, and my mom gets him a couple things so he gets a ton of gifts without us having to spend a shit ton of money. 
Then we go to his family’s Christmas and he gets one gift from us, one from my fiancé’s parents, and one from his sisters family. 
I’m lucky cause I know I wouldn’t be able to afford to spoil him alone but my family is big enough that he gets a ton of stuff without anyone going broke.

Theres no point in it. They play with the toys for a couple days and forget all about them after.
