Can you explain how it works?

PNW💚

Hi! I just had a baby in July and my plan is to get the copper IUD but the gynecologist that is going to put it in, will only do it during a period. Im currently breastfeeding and my last period was at the end of August. I want to try natural family planning to prevent pregnancy until i can get the IUD. Just curious how it all works. Do you take ovulation test? Temp? I imagine its like ttc but in reverse right?

Since im breastfeeding, im not sure how reliable or regular my period is going to be. Im on cycle day 25 out of 30 (prebaby) so i will hopefully have a period here soon but i would like more info about this in case bf delays my period. I started taking ovulation test a few days ago which is when i found out i wont be able to see my doctor for a week or two and so far all ovulation test were negative. Is it safe to stop testing at this point?

This is today’s ovulation test.

SO and I had sex a few time earlier in the month but he pulled out every time. Since my test have been negative so far, im assuming i ovulated earlier. Has anyone done pull out during fertile week and not gotten pregnant?

Also can someone just explain what a typical month of natural family planning looks like to them? Like when do you start charting things and when do you stop? Do you avoid sex during certain times and if so, how do you know when you need to avoid it, how soon or at what sign/symptom do you avoid sex? Thank you!
