STD testing

I went to a doctor beginning of the year with the concern of vaginal itching ( I know tmi ). They told me that they would test to see if there were any concerns to look at (with a cotton swab) and told me I just had a UTI and that there were no diseases. I don’t know why I’m thinking of this randomly but would the doctors be forced to tell me that I have any other problems related to an STD?
