What are your babies eating?

My 8 mo is eating purées in addition to formula and breast milk. She still doesn’t have any teeth. I know she is interested in eating more solid food because she steals our food from our plates. But I’m afraid to let her eat it. How do you know when your lo is ready for more solid food and won’t choke?

She gets formula, purees, and basically anything and everything solid (minus spicy and honey of course). No teeth yet, we started at about 6 months with just purees and rice cereal, when she showed signs of readiness.

We started at 6 months. He only had his first 2 teeth that just broke through. I started with PB toast, then eggs and then strawberries. He gagged a little but never choked. We had started with oatmeal and purées at 5 months and then were given the green light for allergens at 6 months. He eats what we eat now, tonight he had pizza, last night he had pasta, roast beef and asparagus. The night before he had grilled chicken, pears and peas. He’s had pancakes, watermelon, oranges, peaches, banana, green beans... you name it. They don’t need teeth even though he has 7 now. He’s 8.5 months. Just explore see how your LO does!

My baby is 8 1/2 months and still doing purées and formula. I keep trying to give her more solid foods, but she doesn’t seem to like it yet. I think it’s a texture thing. She’s gotten a little better recently, so hopefully she will be ready for actual real food soon!

I started with masked potatoes and beans and let him feed himself

Then we started different fruits and veggies you can look up the right way to cut good for baby led weaning. We stared at 6 months and now a 8 months he eats pretty much everything we do I'll give him a slice of steak and he will knaw on it like crazy! If he takes a big bite and tries to put more in I will tell him to chew and and I love my mouth like I'm chewing and he is like oh yeah! Haha 
It's amazing how they just naturally know when they can't swallow something and spit it out they might gag a little bit, I can't tell you the last time my LO gagged tho he has got it down pretty good. Look into baby led weaning and if you feel comfortable it is a really fun way to go about it. Good luck!
