Induced at 39 Weeks?

My obgyn has said there are some new studies suggesting benefits for inducing at 39 weeks if you have had a healthy pregnancy. It is suggested to decrease the chance of an emergency c-section and reduce the likelihood of other complications.
Anyone else being induced at 39 weeks? Thoughts?

We haven’t concluded if I’ll be induced yet. But my hospital offers it for reasons as simple as “convenience” and at this point I’ve heard of way more women inducing than going into labor naturally. No horror stories, but no mention of what the benefit really is.

I was induced at 39 weeks with my last 2 pregnancies and they went fantastic! My first was a 5 hour labor. Pushed for 20 mins and she was out. 10lbs 2 oz. my second was a 3 hour long labor & I pushed for 10 mins- he was out- 9lbs 5oz. I did wait too long with my son to get an epidural so I couldn’t get one with him, but the labor and birth were both very smooth going.

Wow...a doctor saying induction reduces risks of c section. What a dumbass doctor...studies show otherwise. Pitocin is no joke either....do your own research and look up the side effects of pitocin. Nature knows what it is doing...baby comes when baby is READY. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Mine believes in that as well. I am being induced Sunday at 39 weeks if baby doesn’t come on his own.

Birth in America seems to medicalised to me, i found induction to be incredibly intense and had it taken longer would’ve had an epidural which is more likely to lead to a c section. All the birth stories I read seem to go the same way on here and it seems a shame that it’s not more midwife led

Yes I’ve heard the same thing, and I’ve also researched some academic articles regarding it! We’re being induced at 39 weeks as well, only if she doesn’t come on her own and if my cervix is favorable at the time of induction!
