Wash everything?

FTM here just had my baby shower over the weekend. Just wanted to know is it necessary/recommended to wash absolutely everything? Like clothes, towels, wash cloths etc.

Anything that will be touching baby's skin should always be washed before wearing/using for the first time. There are usually all kinds of chemicals on brand new items like that

Odd man out here... this is my second baby. I only washed clothes that were passed down to us, that we bought from Once Upon a Child or that we had in our attic for the past two years.🤷🏼‍♀️ With my first I washed absolutely everything and over time as we got new clothes I just stopped washing them before putting him in them and had no issues. I also just use our regular detergent. They’re exposed to our clothing anyway so it’s not like washing their clothes in a special detergent keeps them away from what we use.

The one time I didn't wash a new outfit my son got a rash all over his back so I was it all.
I would reccomend not washing everything right away though. I washed everything from my baby shower the next day and there was stuff he never wore that I wish I'd been able to return but had already taken the tags off and washed so that sucked.

It’s recommend to wash anything new or used to remove substances and dust on clothes. Honestly you don’t know where the clothes has been. Plus I worked in retail and bugs and stuff get in clothes boxes sometimes.

Yes- anything you put/use on baby needs to be washed.  That being, you don’t have to wash every single thing now.  Any bigger size clothes (like 6+) can wait closer to when you actually use them.  Or if there’s something you don’t know if you’ll use, wait to wash in case you need to return.

I don’t think it necessary at all if that the case people should continue to wash all clothes before they are worn. My mom didn’t do it neither did my sister do I’m not 🤷🏾‍♀️

To save you some effort upfront, just wash the newborn-3month stuff now and keep the tags on the bigger clothes. You might decide to return them or something if the season isn’t right or you get too many or something.

Yep, wash it all, extra rinse to get out soap! Some babies are just really sensitive... and rashes suck!!!
