1 week old choking over milk?

He's done it when I breastfeed and when I pump and give him a bottle.
It freaks me out every time. I start praying and patting his back to burp him. I'm so scared of him chocking😭. Do all babies do this? Is there a way to stop it?

It’s probably just coming out faster than he can drink. I remember my initial let down was POWERFUL! My son would spit my nipple out and it would spray him in the face 😅 everything was so messy Rose first few weeks 🙈
You could try hand expressing first to relieve the initial pressure until it slows down. And with bottles, make sure they’re really slow flow.
If these don’t help, bring it up to your doctor. There are some health conditions that can make swallowing difficult for babies

Look up paced feeding and do that when you bottle feed, and hand express a little before you nurse. I will probably still happen just less often.

Happens all the time. The milk is probably just coming a little faster then he can handle. Or it goes down the wrong pipe. It’ll be okay mama

It used to happen to my LO often (though not every feed) and now that he's older he's grown out of it. I almost exclusively nurse. Try nursing in the reclined position with him on his tummy on your chest. This way the milk has to work against gravity and won't come out as fast. 
Also remember: what we call choking is actually the baby clearing it's throat of any instructions. When true choking happens, baby stops breathing. The fact that your baby can cough to clear its airways means they'll be just fine 👍
