Are second c-sections always scheduled?

The hospital I deliver at does not allow you to have a VBAC. So for a second c-section, do they always schedule it? Or wait until you go into labor and then go to the hospital for a c-section? Or does it depend on the practice/hospital? I am not currently pregnant but for some reason this question is eating me alive. I feel like it would take some joy out of your pregnancy if you know for a fact when your baby will be born...like it takes some of the excitement of waiting away? Does anyone have any experience with this?

I think they typically try to plan it especially since depending on the situation it could be a risk if they wait until you went naturally. I'm scheduled to have my second child on the 4th and honestly I'm more at peace this time. I know what to expect, we got to pick the date, and I know when to be ready. Having a scheduled c section from what I've been told several times is also more relaxing and not as rushed.

Usually it is scheduled, but you can choose a different hospital. I’m currently planning an HBAC but if I risk out of a homebirth I will be driving 2.5 hrs to the closest hospital that does VBACs.

This is my second, will be a c-section and will be scheduled. My first c-section was scheduled. It actually caused less stress which is what I would prefer. I knew what I had to have ready by when, could have a date night with my husband and make arrangements with family and kids. I love that I’ll have a timeline to follow. But to each their own!

I think they try to plan it but depending on the date and stuff it can take awhile to plan. 
I’m 26 weeks along and I just got my c-section date yesterday because the hospital wouldn’t let us schedule earlier due to it being close to Christmas. 
It makes me more excited knowing the exact date. And if something happens and I go into labor early or have complications then I’ll go to the hospital and have an earlier c-section.

It's scheduled. If your doctor says you need a C-section then they want to avoid you going into labor. They usually schedule it around 39 wks.

My doctor said if you know you are having a csection they do not want you to go into labor, which is why they typically schedule them.

They're scheduled. It doesn't take anything away from the experience. If anything it made things easier. I was able to plan ahead and that helped a lot.

You’ll be scheduled ... however the night before my scheduled c I went into labor! They had to move the scheduled c section up
