They test for hpv every time you have a paps but they don’t do extensive testing unless your cells are abnormal. Atleast my dr does. If you want tested you can request it. As some one who has cervical cancer due to hpv I say it doesn’t hurt to be tested because it can be in your system for years before it shows signs

Before I hit 30 HPV tests were included with the PAP. I just turned 32 and and my Dr told me it's either the PAP or the HPV test or both. They only did mine for the PAP and I'm so angry I'm going back to get tested for HPV too. It usually clears on its own though.

If your under a certain age they do a reflex , which means if they see abnormal cells then they will test, after a certain age they just include it in the pap test.
