Regular detergent for baby clothes?

Did anyone use regular laundry detergent to wash their baby clothes? Just wondering if it’s really worth to buy the Dreft brand.. I know babies have sensitive skin, but just wondering if any other mommas just used regular detergent?

We did tide free and clear for whole household. Too much trouble to keep doing separate loads and a baby ends up having a lot of contact with parent’s clothes anyways (eg baby’s face on dad’s chest for an hour straight nap).

You could use a free and clear brand for the same baby safe approach. You could always try yours and if baby has a reaction go back.

I used free and clear for the first year or so then just went back to regular detergent. Dreft is just a marketing thing. Its really not necessary to have it.

I used the honest co detergent for my first when she was first born and then when I realized she didn't have sensitive skin I just started using the tide we use on her stuff. With my second I used the regular detergent from the get go. She didn't have any problems with it 🙂

If u do I suggest a sent free clear detergent until you get to see how sensitive your babys skin is

Dreft is kind of a marketing gimic.  I use regular tide on everything in the house for everyone.  Unless you wash everything in dreft - it’s on your clothes and in the washer.  I haven’t had issues with either of my kids using tide (even with cloth diapers). Use the extra rinse setting to help get all the detergent out (I do this with everything not just baby clothes). Switch to something other than your normal detergent if you find baby is reacting to it.   Otherwise keep it simple and use what you normally use!

When I have a newborn I usually change all our detergent to free and clear or ivory or any other kind of fragrance free, more expensive, softer one.
