What do contractions actually feel like?

Where abouts do you feel contractions? Is it everywhere? More so where period cramps would be or is it higher up near the middle of you belly and feel like it’s pushing baby down? 🤔 do contractions feel like intense period pains or something completely different?

All of my pain was in my lower back when I was in labor with my son.

I have the same question🤷🏻‍♀️ I get these horrible pains right in the center of my stomach. Feels super hard and just hurt. I don’t know if it’s Braxton Hicks or what. I had it alll day🤷🏻‍♀️

Early labour is light period cramps. 
Real labour feels like someone has your whole reproductive organs with two hands and is wringing them out. Like you would with a wet towel. It gets tighter and tighter and tighter until you can’t handle it anymore, and then looser and looser and looser until the contraction has subsided. 
I know this is super honest, but I wish someone had of told me the truth when I would ask this question with my first lol!

With #1 started out as light period cramps,  then heavy ones,  then omg what is this pain ow ow, then lastly I'm down on the floor rocking back and forth - don't you touch me!  I went to the hospital with those last ones. 
My doctors always laughed "you'll know when you're in labor" they're not wrong
The good news is between the contractions the pain really does stop,  so really embrace that downtime.

With my first child it started off feeling like period cramps that got steadily more intense for a minute and then just stopped. 
They were across my stomach and it made my stomach go really hard. 
My back hurt a lot so I used a hot water bottle on my back and it helped with the pain a lot.
Braxton hicks contractions aren’t supposed to hurt and will go away if you change positions

I had back labor so I didn’t feel anything in my belly. But it felt like my pelvis and tailbone were literally being shattered into pieces with each contraction. I was begging for help. I typically have a high pain tolerance but this was a whole new beast. I had a rib removed last year and only took pain meds for 3 days. After birth, I couldn’t sit for almost 6 weeks because the pain in my pelvis still lingered on.
