Pacifier for newborn?

I am currently breastfeeding and plan to use a pacifier but I was wondering when you mommas were gonna give your babies one?? Is there a certain time you should wait? 
I feel like she just constantly wants to suck on my boobs for comfort after like 20-30 minute feedings until she falls asleep lol

My dude is two weeks old. I wasn't going to give him a paci for the first 4 weeks so we could establish breastfeeding first. But by day 2 in the hospital, he was constantly crying and wouldn't latch when he was that upset. I give him one now for things like car rides and if I need to pee, lol. I just make sure that he's not actually hungry first, that way my supply doesn't suffer.

I started trying to give my daughter a pacifier after the first week. Unfortunately she is one of those kids that hate pacifiers 😭 she has recently been sucking on her finger, but who knows how long that'll work (my boobs need a break!)

We started right away. I usually only use it to soothe her if I know she’s due for a feeding but I’m doing something with my other kids, making meals, potty training, naps etc. Once I’m finish with them I feed her and we don’t have a screaming upset baby. Our pediatrician says it’s completely fine, but could cause latch issues and nipple confusion. I’ve had 3 babies who’ve never had nipple confusion though, so I guess I got lucky. 🙃

I started at week 2 when I knew he was full and changed and just wanted to suckle. He doesn't take it all the time just a few minutes, usually in the car or bedtime.

Baby is currently 4 days old and has had a pacifier since day one. He was using me as a pacifier instead of nursing so he would be on the boob for almost an hour if not more each feeding but just laying there not really sucking or anything so I introduced a pacifier. He has done really well and is eating well (I think, we have follow up today so we will see.)

This exact same thing happened to me with my son! Lactation consultant said it was fine to use one. I started during week 2.

Asked my pediatrician yesterday about this (he seems to be very supportive and knowledgeable about breastfeeding) he said as long as I am only giving paci for soothing and not to hold off feedings we should be fine. He said nipple confusion is real but can be worked around if you make sure they latch properly every time they are at the breast.
