Taking my son to a baby shower

Ok so my son is 10 years old and I have my husband’s cousin’s baby shower tomorrow afternoon. My son has ADHD, sensory processing disorder, anxiety and my husband isn’t always nice to him and never really interacts with him and doesn’t know how to approach him if he does choose to interact. Currently, my husband is going through something and says he is depressed and he has been so mean and nasty to both me and my son. I do not feel comfortable leaving my son with my husband while I am not around. If I can not find someone to keep him for a couple of hours, is it acceptable to take him with me? Or should I just pass the gift along to my MIL and skip the shower?
