Bilingual Home?

Question

Does anyone have a second language spoken at home? 
I'm Icelandic so I speak to our little girl in icelandic all the time but my OH seems not so keen on the idea and thinks it will stop her from learning English. He doesnt speak Icelandic so he only speaks to her in English. 
Does anyone want to share how things work for them?

Using both is brilliant for them - they will naturall pick it up and  distinguish between them, they’re like little sponges

I did a course called babybrains and one of the segments was that two language households are amazing for children. It can delay speech initially and the course leader said the child could be 3.5 before they start taking properly but it lays groundwork in their brains for the rest of their lives. From the point of view of a teacher, it will not damage her learning English unless she is only spoken to in Icelandic. I’ve taught plenty of children with multiple languages and the only time English is an issue is if they are new to the country/ came here later on or if English is not spoken at home. Some of my higher ability children have been EAL. 👍🏼😊

I haven't got any tips but I know a few children who have grown up speaking a home language and English!! 
It's such a good start in life to speak both.

My daughter is now 2 and speaks both English and Russian. 
My husband has only ever spoken Russian to her and I can only speak English. Initially I was worried that this could delay her speech or cause confusion but it has been the complete opposite. 
My little girl can understand and speak both languages beautifully. It’s amazing to see and hear!  My daughter has even learnt which family members to speak which language to. So please don’t be worried or concerned and carry on speaking both languages!

My daughter is only 7 weeks now, but I speak to her ONLY in Polish, even when speaking to my fiancé in English, and he speaks in English only.
My grandma worked as a nursery principal for years and kids who are brought up like that get both languages no problem. Apparently many people say this is the best way for a child to understand both, the only issue is, they may start talking a tiny bit later than kids with just one language.
Even though we live in the UK, I will continue to only speak Polish to my daughter, she also has Polish books for when she grows up to read them to her, even lullaby are sung in Polish.
I'm with her a lot more than her dad, so she might understand Polish quicker, but she will catch up in school with English speaking children. My fiancé knew this is my plan before we even got pregnant so he was never fussy, sometimes iust asked me what I'm saying to her just because he's curious

My daughter is 4 years old and I speak to her in german and thai and my partner the english man in our family is speaking english with her. It never bother her so far and she is fluent in all 3 language. Sometimes too fluent as she translates sometimes my conversation between me and my mom lol. And I know that I will do it with baby number two too (5 weeks pregnant in the moment) its beautiful to see when we are on holiday in Thailand or germany and she can just go off to the native kids and join them to play or even play with my cousin kids as she understands them and are able to communicate with them without a problem. I agree with one thing she start talking proper around 2,5 years as she wasn't sure when to speak what but that changed now and she is speaking freely and openly in either language. 
As I grow up bilingual myself I can say the young age is the easy bit. Its getting more complicated when they are teens as I hated it that my mom would ignore me when I spoke german to her and not thai but to be fair it help me now as I am able to speak thai and I am grateful she done what she done to give me the chance to speak it

Baby is not here yet but between me and my husband, we speak 4 languages. I picked up 3 languages fluently by 4 years old so your bubba can definitely do it!

I’m curious on this as my partner is French and myself English and we want dual language from start but without confusing.
