How much should you have for a safety net for when you move out?

Technically you’re “supposed to” have six months worth of expenses. However much that is for you.

I had 5,000 and that worked out great for me, just make sure not to spend it on stuff you don’t need once you move out and feel more confident in the money you have

Depends on a ton of factors. Like where you live, debt, stability of your income, and your own mental comfort level about if it feels like enough to put you at ease or if you’re going to worry about being on the brink. For me, a minimum of 3 months of expenses checks those boxes.

If youre going to rent, id do rent+deposit then an extra months rent. So if the deposit is $100 and 1st months rent is $1000 id have $2100 in hand so if anything happens your rent will be paid for the next month already so you have a month to find a job or come up with another months rent. Always stay 1-2 months ahead on bills if you can.

My goal was $10000. Also get rid of any credit card debt if you have any

Id save in the $8-$10k range nothing worse then only having your rent paid and no food utilities ect.
