Flu jab??

Question

Are you ladies having yours?
If so why? And if not what are your reasons?
My concern is that I’m generally very healthy I rarely ever get sick. I haven’t had the flu since I was a child myself. But apparently your immunity is lower when pregnant. But if your immunity is lower and you don’t usually get sick is having an immunisation which actually contains the virus a good or bad thing? 🤔

I am getting it. My OB wants me to get it. The actual flu would put the baby's life at risk. I will do anything to protect my baby. The shot doesn't contain the live virus. It won't get you sick. If you get flu symptoms, it is minor and only because your body is building antibodies against the flu. I am also a teacher so working with kids puts me at a higher risk to get the flu. My OB suggests it and says it is safe.

It is so dangerous to get the flu when you’re pregnant for both mom and baby the vaccine is so important. All the years of it being out they have not found any negative side effects or issues. It isn’t a live virus so it can’t get you sick. You should get it as early as you can in flu season so you don’t get it. I got mine when i was four weeks pregnant and I’m at 6 weeks and still going strong!

Nope nope nopety nope! I’m all for vaccines but have always been against the flu shot and will never get any vaccine while pregnant. I actually never got sick with my last pregnancy. Also they failed miserably last year at picking the strains to vaccinate for where I live, so getting the flu shot doesn’t mean you won’t get the flu.

I got mine earlier this week! Currently 6w6d. My OB said it’s okay to get it anytime during pregnancy but the earlier the better.
I caught the flu in my 2nd trimester with my first child and it was horrific. I actually thought I was going to die. ER and urgent care visits with IV fluids and meds.
I’ve been a believer in the flu vac since then - I’m pro vaccine in general but had just never gotten around to getting my flu vaccine.

I also would like to add that the CDC has released studies that show even if the strain in the vaccine isn’t one of the most prevalent flu strains in the current season, it will still help with immunity if you catch the flu - and having received the vaccine will shorten the duration and intensity of the virus. Just another thing to think about. 😊

Nope. Never do. I put energy into keeping my immune system strong and that has worked my entire life. I've never had the flu, so far.

I got a flu shot yesterday at 7+5. Dr told me it was okay. Flu is way more dangerous and the flu is predicted to be really bad this year. But always your choice.

I have also heard that if you get the flu shot it will pass the antibodies to the baby and will protect them in their first few months after being born since they cant get a flu shot until like 6 months old.

Absolutely I will get the flu shot. Just make sure it's the preservative free version (wherever you go, tell them that you're pregnant and they will give this one to you if they have it)
