Do you need to ovulate to have a period???

I skipped 2 months of no period only spotting. This month I got it and it’s a normal period again. Does this mean I’m getting back on track after discontinuing nuvaring ?

You have to ovulate to get a period.
However, it's also possible to get withdrawal bleeds without having ovulated. It would still count as a period. And can seem just like a period.
You should temp to see if you ovulate. It can take a while for your body to re-regulate and even if you did ovulate this time, it doesnt mean you def will at a normal time next time.
