Am I in the wrong?

Question

My birthday is on Monday, so my boyfriend and I were going to go out Saturday to go to dinner, a bar, and run a few errands (get my car fixed). His best friend and his girlfriend have a day off on Saturday and want us to go to the mall in their city (an hour away.) l told my boyfriend I want to do what I want to do on my birthday, but he’s acting like I’m being difficult. He says I don’t want to hang out with them because we’ve only met them once in the 2 months we’ve been dating, but our days off simply never line up. Am I wrong for wanting to do what I want to do on MY birthday?

This is not a bash on you or anything, but I've never understood why adults make such a fuss on their birthdays that everything must go their way. I really don't understand. 
You're not wrong for feeling the way you do. You're allowed to feel the way you feel and frankly getting your car fixed seems like a better use of your time than going to a mall.
However, he's not obliged to do what you want to do either. As harsh as that sounds. It's nice for him to want to do it, but he can want to do other things too.
So neither of you are wrong, really.

Meh I don’t think you’re being immature 🤷🏾‍♀️ if my SO and I made plans for a special occasion (birthday, anniversary) and he wanted to change it last minute, just to see his friends (who we see all the time any other day), I’d be annoyed. Is there no compromise to be made? Maybe you go see them early afternoon and continue to your birthday plans in the evening? I wouldn’t wanna drive an hour to hang out at a mall anyway but hey 😅😂

I think you both have the right to feel the way you both feel. You should want to celebrate your birthday the way you wish and he has a right to want to see his friends.  It sounds like meeting up with them is something he has been wanting to do for a while. However, I have been in similar situations with my now husband. I have found that in the end I wanted him to be just as satisfied with the decision as I was. With that being said, maybe you can do brunch instead of dinner or go to dinner with his couple friends and go dancing afterwards. I think you would be surprised at how much fun you’ll have if both of you are satisfied with how the day goes.  I’m not sure how long you have been dating but if it’s been years or you really like/ love him then I would definitely compromise somewhere in the situation.

Sheesh... How old are you ???
A relationship is compromise... Doesn't matter who's birthday it is. 
Also a birthday is just a another day, be happy he is willing to celebrate it with you but don't use the day to make him do things he doesn't not only want to do but also doesn't LIKE to do.
