What if You Go into Labor Before a Planned C-Section?

My first baby was an unplanned c-section. With Baby #2, I’ve decided to opt for a planned c-section, but lately I’ve been worrying/wondering what happens if I go into labor before the scheduled surgery? Has this happened to anyone? Will they make me labor again, take me straight back for the operation, or give me a choice should that moment come? Thanks!

If you are in labor then they will do the c aection that day to avoid risking tearing on the inside... ive had 4 and last one wad a week ahead of scheduled c section

The plan for me is to still have a c section if I go into labor before the scheduled date. If I’m already dilated more than 6 cm then she’s gonna let me just do the vbac. My last labor was only 2 hours.

I *think* because you had a c section before and wish to not do a VBAC then they shouldn’t follow your wishes of a c section. You can ask your doctor and hospital to be sure but it’s for the health of you and your baby so I think if it’s already planned they should follow through and not “force” you to do VBAC.

I went into labor the day before my scheduled repeat c. I labored for 8 hours at home, and it finally felt strong enough to get checked. I went in, and since there was an increase in dilation they approved me to continue laboring, or go forth with my c-section right then. As long as there’s reason for the c-section there’s no reason they wouldn’t stick to that even if you go early.

I went into labor two days before my scheduled c-section and barely made it to the hospital. Just call your doctor quickly and head to the hospital if you think you are going into labor. I was 7cm when I got there and they rolled me back to the OR about 15 minutes later. I had not eaten because my contractions started at 7:30am. Called my doc at 8:30am and she was born at 9:52am.

My practice would let me make the decision however I did say if things were going smoothly I’d try vaginally. My repeat section is scheduled for 39 weeks and I’m so anxious to go into labor before that 😨 currently 36&4

Same as Jennifer- I went into labor a week before my scheduled c section for breech positioning. They did my c section 6 hours after I had last eaten, so I was in labor for about 4-5 hours before surgery
