Period on Birth control

Hello! Last month I started birth control pills for the first time. My sugar pills started this Wednesday but I got my period the Saturday before that. I called the doctor and he said it was completely normal since my body is getting used to it. Now that I’m on the sugar pills I got it again. Is this normal? Pls help!!
