Inguinal hernia

Has anyone had a baby with an inguinal hernia that had surgery to correct it? My boy was born 3 weeks early and now has a very visible inguinal hernia. We meet for our surgical consult in a couple of weeks but of course I'm terrified. Any advice or a walkthrough of the procedure would be nice.
