Should I wait to announce our pregnancy or go for it at 6 weeks?

I’ve already told my parents and sister and a few friends, but I’m still hesitant to tell my in laws! I’m not sure how they would take the news and I hate secrets! We kept it secret last time but this time feels sooo much better being able to talk about it with a few people. I just don’t know!

Okay. I told at six weeks and here’s why... a very dear friend of mine lost her baby in a miscarriage and became a voice for women and loss. She broke the stigma for me that miscarriage is to be hidden. I understand that people may not want to share for fear of having to tell their family and friends about their loss, but for me, I was too filled with joy to wait. I slowly told at six weeks over the seven days after we found our. Then we publicly announced on the following Sunday. I have a colleague who went through infertility and loss and she said that when you go through loss, it can help to have your friends and family near you. I think if I had to worry about my performance and my hidden pregnancy, it would have made it all the more painful. It is an individual decision. I would preface telling with the sentence “it’s so early but we’re excited and cautiously optimistic” but I wish I could have just shared without having to make an excuse or being told “don’t tell too many people.” Miscarriage is hell, but no one has the right to steal your joy or to tell you what to feel. I’m so glad I told. It was a huge weight lifted and I was able to be my bloated, nauseous, tired and cranky self with people knowing why. 😂🥰 Not telling won’t make the pain any less if the worst happens.

I told my family because in January I got pregnant and lost the baby and didn't tell anyone and I felt so alone. I couldn't tell everyone "had a miscarriage" because I didn't want to deal with "why didn't you tell us u were pregnant we could have helped blah blah" this time. The day I found out I told my dad. Waited for my HCG to come back solid and then announced on social media

If you feel like talking  about it go for it! In Brazil we do not have this rule of waiting for the first trimester to pass, we just go for it. I was afraid to tell people too soon but keeping the secret made me feel like I was letting the momentum go away. If it feels right, just tell 😍

I’d wait until at least 8.  That’s what I am trying to do.  If you can’t go for 7.  Have you had your ultrasound yet?
