Social media?

Question

Anyone else NOT announcing on social media? My husband and I both don't want photos of our child online. We might have maternity photos in March or April and post those, but nothing else. Important family knows. Personally, I don't want our personal lives all over social media especially our child who can't consent to having their photos online. 
Anyone else with me?

For me it is about not know the pain other couples are dealing with. I am not yet 100% sure if we will announce on social media but I am leaning towards not. So many people close to you could be dealing with infertility and pregnancy loss, I just want to be sensitive to that. 
I have had my own loss and always loved see people’s announcements but someone else might be in a more fragile place at that moment. So I think we will opt for tell personally. I know I don’t want any photos of my children of social media.

Me!!!!! My entire thing is never going to posted on social media until my baby is born. And once the baby is here, only back photos.
I have a large following 2000+ and I just don’t feel it’s necessary to have a bunch of strange people I don’t know, watching me through this.
I want this completely personal. Some people won’t even know I’m pregnant until my shower invite.
We are asking at our shower that no photos be taken of us besides by our own photographer; which we will get everyone the photos after the baby is born and they can post then if they’d like.

I’ve thought about not announcing on social media but I want to share this happy time with my family and friends so I probably will. I keep a small following on social media so it’s only people I really know well and trust so I feel comfortable posting pictures of my kids and life. For me it’s basically like a large group text. And with my first child we had asked family not to post pictures of her on their Facebooks and explained that we have strict privacy settings on ours and know everyone on our friends list. Most people have respected that. But what does make me sad is I know a couple family members are struggling with infertility and I know what that feels like and I don’t want to upset anyone but they’re going to find out anyway and I don’t think the joy of a new baby should be hidden because some people are struggling. Not trying to be cruel about that but even when I was struggling to get pregnant I was always happy for everyone else because no matter what a new baby is a happy thing. That’s how I feel anyway

I don’t really care about the photos, I’m a photographer so I do take and post photos of my kids a lot. But likely won’t announce my pregnancy on social media at all... there are a lot of people who’s opinions I don’t care to hear. I usually wait to announce my pregnancies for a long time anyway. A few people know but we’ll see how long I take to show and then determine from there when to tell family & the kids.

I am right there with you! This is something my husband and I have always agreed upon also. Obviously we are very excited, but we aren’t big social media people.

I’m not much of a social media person and neither is my husband. We posted a couple weeks after my son was born, but he’s 2.5 years old and have since only put one other back photo on social media. We’ve just decided that we don’t feel comfortable putting his pictures out there. We might put a picture up of the two of them after the new baby is born, but not sure.
I love seeing pictures of other people’s children and don’t judge others for sharing at all, it’s just our preference.

Ive decided not to announce my preg on social media (still might change my mind) everyone who is important to me already knows so I really dont see the point. But again I could change my mind.

That’s fine you don’t have to. I got off Facebook altogether about a year ago. Just please don’t post pics of the back of the baby’s head or the foot or something annoying and attention seeky.

We announce after we get out first ultrasound we rarely post much but the amount of support from other friends and family is nice regardless of the outcome support is always a great thing
