Can Christians smoke?

Question

Me and my husband have decided to renew and rebuild our relationship with God after going through a storm in our marriage... we’ve been fasting and praying and going to church etc but I haven’t been able to stop smoking, we decreased but have not stopped and I feel bad as if it’s a sin? So what do y’all think about marijuana use I can’t find anything.

I would say no because the Bible talks about putting away dirty things (to put it simply) and smoking isn’t considered clean. Also, the Lord says our body is a temple and we should love it and care for it as He does! Smoking damages your body and is far from taking care of it. No matter what people say, “oh it helps me relax..” no.. it’s an addiction and addictions are also against the Word of God because addictions are idols. And we should never have any idol but God. Anyyyyways... that’s my view on it I guess. :) I hope it helped

So, I'd say the simple, straightforward answer is no because no where does it say smoking is a sin. Life isn't simple though. You are hurting yourself, other people and the environment, which is a sin.
The thing is, Christians do sin! We gossip, we hold grudges, we yell, curse, are disrespectful to our parents, envious, all of it! Try to be better. Strive to be Christ-like. Do your best to quit.
Real world suggestion? My husband used the patch. He was at a happy spot in life, had support and was ready to do it.

I struggled with this last year and I rationalized it as this. Weed takes you out of your frame of mine. Whether you believe you are heightened or lowered, you are removed from the reality God created for you which is outside of His will. I also look at it from the point of if it was something God wanted us to do we wouldn’t question it. We don’t question feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, or giving homes to the homeless because we know those things are Christ-like.
Rule of thumb: If you second guess, you probably shouldn’t be doing it all.
