I adopted two cats off Craigslist a bit over a half year ago. The owner had said they had just had a new baby and couldn't keep them anymore. I was told one cat was 9 months old and they adopted him as a kitten. And one cat was about a year old and they adopted him from the shelter when he was about 6 months old. I recently got a call from the original owners saying they missed their cats and really wanted them back. I feel super conflicted about this situation cuz I really sympathise with them but our family has really bonded to these cats already, especially our kids. And at this point I've had the cats almost as long as they have. They said if I was a good person I would do the right thing and return their cats because they love them and raised them. And I understand they were probably stressed out and overworked with their new baby when they gave away the cats and now regret it, but I also feel hurt and cheated that they would imply we didn't care for our cats and wanted to use us like a free cat hotel.
