I only got two embryos and knew I wouldn’t get a lot so I didn’t do it. I got pregnant on my first round and ultrasound is tomorrow to see if all is going well in there! With pcos, you might get a lot of embryos but of varying quality, so it might be a good idea to do it.

Absolutely worth it in my opinion. I’m still waiting for the results to come back but I had 40 eggs retrieved. Only 19 were mature and 14 fertilized. Of those 6 became embryos. My numbers are drastically declining and they believe it’s egg quality. So doing the testing will give us peace of mind that we are transferring a normal embryo (praying we get some normal ones back). 
Without the testing I wouldn’t know. Everything has been so negative so far with how our quality is so this testing is definitely necessary in my opinion. Plus - when we are spending this much as is, I figure why not go all in. I want the highest chances of success so I’ll pay to help those odds.

We didn’t because of cost. The risk is really that you might transfer an abnormal embryo that won’t stick. It’s very unlikely for it to stick and develop abnormally. If that does happen, you’ll test for it a few weeks in instead (which insurance covers for me) and can abort then. Obviously not awesome, and could potentially delay the process. You just have to decide for yourselves what you can afford and what the value is to you.

Absolutely recommend it. We did it (cost 5k) and so glad we did. Our one embryo out of 4 that was sent,  that was graded the best visually was actually the only one that came back abnormal. After spending so much money and energy on IVF I think having the extra piece of mind knowing the embryo you transfer is perfect, is worth it.

I did it- I also have PCOS and had a miscarriage back in February- I did genetics on the MC and it was due to abnormal chromosomes.  I am so thankful I tested.  I had 10 blastocysts to test and only 3 came back normal! If I hadn’t chances are they would have implanted an abnormal embryo.  I did this to help minimize the risk of having another MC.

We decided since we’re already spending so much money on ivf it would be dumb for us not to spend a little more and get a better idea of which of the embryos are normal. Also the embryologist said sometimes they see what looks like a perfect embryo and they send it off and it comes back in unnorml. It’s up to you but you increase your chance of miscarriage because 1 in 4 end to a chromosomal issues. I won’t say it completely takes away your chances of miscarriage but it definitely helps.

My husband and I are 31 and I just started stims for ivf on Sunday. We decided to go ahead and plan to do testing because I have pcos and we figure we are already investing so much into this so we might as well test. I want to do anything that I possibly can to reduce the chance of a miscarriage (I've actually never been pregnant before), especially in the chance that we end up with multiple embryos. I know there is some literature against testing but at the end of the day it made sense for us to proceed. Good luck with your decision!
