Low on vit d?

Received a letter from my drs office that I have Vit D deficiency.. is this a serious diagnosis ? What does this mean ? 
I tried calling my doctor , but he has not returned my call

I am also vitamin D deficient, I’m on 5000ui a day. I just recently got diagnosed with it, I had went into the doctor office because my bones were very sensitive and I was really weak. They did a lot of blood work and this turned up. By sensitive I mean someone could barely grab my arm and it would hurt bad even after they stop touching me.

I was just diagnosed as well! It’s nothing to worry about. You just need to take a high vitamin D supplement. I saw my doctor a week ago to go over my blood work (I have a thyroid disease as well but my levels were normal) because I’ve been extremely exhausted. He said that since I had a baby 8 months ago it’s normal to be low in D because D and calcium forms the fetus. My body just hasn’t caught up yet. I would just call and see what your doctor would like you to do. My doctor told me to take 3,000 IU in vitamin D, and my fatigue should be better with time.

I had it for a while.  It's nothing to stress out about.  I was put on a prenatal vitamin for a few years and I'm now in a normal range.

My vitamin d levels are low because i live in thw northern hemisphere where we dont get a lot of sun. My doctor recommended 5,000IU vitamin d pills daily for me. Im sure your doctor will follow up on the test results for you and tell you what you need to do. Most suggest vitamin d pills.

Are you pregnant? I've been vitamin D deficient for my pregnancies...but no, it isn't serious. Just go get some vitamin D supplements at the store.
