Church or no church ?

My family is telling me it’s pointless to have a big wedding if we are not getting married through church ? Thoughts ? My fiancé isn’t huge in religion, I was born catholic but getting married through church isn’t a priority for me at this time .

Honestly, what your family thinks doesn’t matter. Do you want a big wedding even if it isn’t in a church? Does your fiancé want a big wedding? This day is for the two of you, not your friends and family. If they can’t respect that and get onboard with what you want, they don’t deserve a seat at your wedding.

I've had a bad experience at church. My church is a small community and im a half cast so I stand out. The priest singled me out and embarassed me infront of everyone.

We had a non denominational wedding at an event center, and had a friend ordained. Do what makes you happy, although if I had it to do over I would have fought harder to elope.

It’s a wedding for you and your fiancé, not your family. If getting married in a church isn’t what y’all want then don’t do it. If you try to please everyone else you’ll only end up unhappy because it’s not what y’all wanted

I don’t see what having a big wedding has to with a church or not. We didn’t have ours in a church and had around 120. I wouldn’t have changed it.
