Should my husband get to dictate what tattoos I get?

I love getting tattoos! I only have 3 and each one has significant meaning. I would like to get a few more but whenever I bring it up my husband gets upset saying he doesn't want me "covered in tattoos" and he doesn't think I have any other reasons to get anymore. I'd like to make mutual decisions about it but it seems like he refuses to see my point of view...

I would totally say "your body your choice". But then I'd be a hypocrite. If my OH came home with face/neck/hand tattoo I'd be mad.  
I swim a lot and when I see people covered in them at the pool, I don't think it looks great. That's totally personal opinion, but I wouldn't want to be with someone who's covered. So I think if my OH started covering himself I'd be upset that he hadn't taken my taste into account. 
I'd also have wanted a conversation about what and where prior. 
My ex used to tell me if I got my hair cut, or I put on weight, he'd dump me, but that's reversable. I feel like a permanent change is different.

I’m in the same boat. I want more tattoos and my husband keeps saying not right now. He knows I have ideas for at least 2. Personally for me I don’t want to be covered. While it’s my body I do respect what he has to say. As far as what I get and maybe where. I do want him to like it but at the end of the day it’s my body especially if I work for it and pay myself. As far as cost goes for us I didn’t have a full time job so money was tight. Now I have a full time job but again I would definitely tell him what I want to get and if he doesn’t like it we can discuss something we agree on. Either way my best friends brother did my first 2 tattoos about 4 months ago and he’ll be doing another next month. He’s been doing it for 13 years and I love his work! So it’s really up to you and your relationship. At the end of the day yes it’s YOUR body but do you care if your husband likes it? He may not like the tattoo but he should ALWAYS find you attractive!!

As somebody who is covered in tattoos, I’m so ink friendly. But I do believe that being married is a commitment and if he’s got issues with a certain piece of art, you should re think it just as any other choice. Yes it is your body, and if you’re not getting anything derogatory, or that holds a bad memory for him.. why not get what you want? Everybody has a different eye and taste in art. He needs to stop being controlling.

I think that the title and the question is wrong: he doesn’t dictate your WHAT tattoo to make. He doesn’t WANT you to have any tattoos anymore. 
And he is a right for that. It is like you falling in love with one person and body and then you are getting another one. Some people can accept if his/ her partner getting fat, or getting covered with tattoos or getting a pink hairs, or making some unexpected plastic surgery or anything else, others cannot tolerate it.

I know people get tattoos have meanings not to just cover their body. While his opinion is valued, it is still your body. You know why your getting it.
