What would you do

My 6 year old was invited to be a full tile peer role model in the special needs room at her elementary school. I’m conflicted on sending her because on one hand I feel like it would be taking away from her learning to be in the other classroom helping the kiddos. I wouldn’t find if it wasn’t full time but that’s the only option.

What exactly would she be doing as a peer role model full time? Would she still be taught the curriculum she was introduced to in her original classroom ? Or would she be helping out the whole day? If the primary job of a peer role model is to help teach those with special needs, it seems odd that they would give that job to a 6 year old, especially if it meant her missing out on the curriculum of her original class

I work with special needs students, role models are extremely important to those kids!  Especially ones that are their peers.  It should be a great compliment to you that your child was chosen to help the special needs students.
