In need of advice!!!
So to start off, I’m looking for advice on whether or not I should see an OB/GYN or some other specialist. I’m 22 years old, and currently have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years with my boyfriend. A little backstory of myself- my menstrual cycle had always been regular until I was 15 years old & was getting the Depo Provera birth control shot. I was reassured many times by multiple doctors that my periods would get “lighter” and i would have less cramping. From the day I got the first shot, I started bleeding. Heavily. I was told not to go off the shot so 3 months later I got the shot again. Still no sign of my bleeding slowing down. It’s been 6 months since the “period” started. Another 3 months later I get another shot. Still no stopping this bleeding. At this point I am extremely sick. Headaches, body aches, fainting & dizzy spells, vertigo, nausea, and so many more problems. In an ultrasound I find out I have many scars in my uterus. They told me I could’ve previously had Pelvic Inflammatory Disease or chlamydia that had cleared in its own. This doesn’t really register to my 15 year old self. After dealing with this sickness I finally decide to stand up for myself and tell my doctor I will not be getting another shot. From that day, I have never had another “normal” or regular cycle again. I’ve tried progesterone pills many times to kickstart my periods, which always work. I’ve tried the pill form of birth control, which do keep my cycle regular. 2 years ago is the last time I have seen an OB/gyn. He checked my hormones- said all were normal. Diagnosed me with PCOS anyways, because he said my symptoms closely relate with it. I talked to a nurse practitioner in May of this year, she suggested a birth control pill. Which I took for 2 months and then decided to see what would happen after that. My priori was regular and on time like clockwork until this month. My period started yesterday and was 12 days late. I had been using ovulation tests for the past couple months and have never gotten a positive test. I usually test starting from the day after my period ends to the day before it starts. No positives- ever. We have been using pre-seed as well. I have also been exercising and eating better, which I am always reminded to do from the doctors because I am overweight. I feel like no doctors take me seriously because of my age. I feel like I am worth listening to, but I don’t want to embarrass myself again. I’m scared and nervous to see a doctor because I always feel like there is nothing wrong with me. Any advice at all is appreciated!!
