Me and my boyfriend have been together coming on three years, we’re both 18. I will always invite him to family gatherings or events. However, he will never invite me. He has a large family and they do massive bbqs and I haven’t been invited to one. Any time I ask him about it he says oh next time or comes up with an excuse as to why I wasn’t invited. Today he had one and I wasn’t invited and I expressed to him how it made me feel and how it did upset me a little bit. The only family of his I’ve ever met is his mum and dad and that’s always been very briefly. I wouldn’t say I have any form of relationship with them. Am I overreacting by getting upset over this?
