How often should I feed my LO solids?

Maria • Married 💍 Boy mom x2 💙👦🏼👶🏻

Hi mommas,

My son just turned 6 months old and he’s starting solids. He eats oatmeal, rice cereal, purée fruits and veggies. My question is how often should I feed him? He shows a high level of interest when hubby and I are eating but my fear is if I give him something he’ll choke (my biggest fear). Any advice is welcomed.

Happy feeding!

I have read that once a day is fine at 6mo, 2x a day at 9mo, and 3x at 12mo

We aim for twice a day. The times vary as we just let it be flexible with our schedule.

We do baby led weaning and I typically offer twice. Once between nap 1 and 2 and then the second time during our supper. If he’s had bad naps or refuses his third nap he usually misses supper with us and that’s ok with me. It’s all just for fun and this age anyway

My little boy gets breakfast at 630 which is pancakes French toast or something to that extent and a fruit purée. then gets 6 oz of breast milk after. Eats 6 oz at 1030, lunch food at 12 and a veggie purée with sippy of water offered. At 130/2 6 oz. 4:00 snack usually puffs or crackers and 3 oz. 630 supper food and veggie purée. 730 6 oz.

That is valuable information. Thank you! I will try that routine.
