How important do you think sex is in a relationship?

Question

So I just started seeing this guy. He says that sex is very important in a relationship in order to know if you’re compatible and to have that bond. 
Thing is, I don’t see it that way. But that’s probably because I’m a virgin and he’s not. It makes me want to lose it to see, but I still don’t feel like I’m nearly ready to have sex. 
I don’t understand why some people think it’s so important? So I’m just curious to hear others’/girls’ take on it!

It’s a way to connect with your partner on a level you can’t connect with anyone else. To relive stress and enjoy one another. Be completely vulnerable. That’s why I think sex creates intimacy and closeness. However, the foundation of a relationship needs to be strong and healthy. Provided it is, I think sex brings a very important aspect to a relationship. For me anyways.

Think sex is important  but when start to seeing someone I do believe that could wait till marriage or when you are ready. Don’t have sex just because he want to and don’t let him pressure you in too it. You have to be ready for it.￼

It’s a crucial part of a relationship to me. Not that it should be the foundation of a relationship but to me I need an equal balance of sex/romance/friendship in a relationship. It’s scientifically proven it makes your bond stronger.
I couldn’t be with someone who I didn’t enjoy having sex with or who didn’t have a sex drive as high as mine. I’ve tried, and I always wound up miserable. Current boyfriend and I have an extremely active/adventurous sex life and I definitely think that plays a big role in us having a great bond and relationship overall.

Sounds like he’s just trying to pressure you into sex. Don’t do it until you’re ready!

I think it may be him just trying to take your virginity. I would hold off if you’re not ready. 
Think of it this way, you have to have a relationship beyond sex because one day you won’t be able to have sex anymore and if you don’t have a bond other than a sexual bond then the relationship will fall apart. Say you were on your death bed, you need that partner that won’t stray and go find that sexual connection some place else. So yes sex does matter to an extent but I feel like you need your relationship to be able to function without it at times if that makes sense.

I guess it depends on the couple but it’s important to me. I dated someone I wasn’t sexually compatible with but after dating someone I was, it’s a game changer 😅

It's a part of a relationship to me yes but not until down the road after that emotional bonding and being happy with each other's company
