Is Hashimoto's the same as low/high Thyroid?
I have low Thyroid for nearly 2yrs(on levothyroxine 50)and have been diagnosed 2weeks ago with Hashimoto's by a Thyroid specialist. He told me to come back in a year even though I have been extremely sick with my hair coming out in chunks and the picture down below was me runny my hands through my hair. Among other symptoms. I went to my nurse Practitioner yesterday cause I feel extremely bad and have for the past 6m. I asked her 2m ago if Hashimoto's could be a possibility(ran into a Google article) and she told me absolutely not because my symptoms didn't add up like her having Hashimoto's (hers is high Thyroid). When I told her I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's she looked at me and said that's what Thyroid problems are anyways is Hashimoto's it's all the same thing just an autoimmune problem and I have had this for yeeears and I don't even have to take medications at all so it's not something that HAS to be treated but some chose to....am I wrong? I thought Hashimoto's was a totally different disease then just a high/low Thyroid? The Thyroid doctor said my blood work came back fine and just stay on the levothyroxine 50 and come back in a year. He asked me if my family doctor(nurse Practitioner) told me that I had this and I said No! He said I've had this for awhile handed me a paper with a little bit about what Hashimoto's was and walked out. I had to Google everything about it. I have tried the none GMO..no sugar...no dairy etc. etc. Of the Hashimoto's diet and it's not working. I feel super miserable. Any advice please(other then find a new doctor, she's the only one excepting my insurance in my area right now)
This is nothing compared to Washing my hair.
