My house flooded ... what now?
My house flooded last week. The upstairs bathtub cracked and a ton of water poured into the downstairs dining room.
We had a local contractor come out and give us a quote on how much it will cost to repair it and his quote was 29k... the insurance guy came out and said it’s 15k worth of repairs. That’s a huge difference! How do I determine who is right... what are my options ? Is the insurance being stingy? Is the contractor being greedy? Please help!
EDIT: thank you guys! That’s a great idea 🙌🏻 we will line up a couple more quotes
Also I wanted to mention that the water spread into the kitchen, hallway and living room... all the floors downstairs need to be changed, they took apart a wall and partial ceiling... the bathtub and floor was damaged in the bathroom... lastly the crawl space under the house had standing water from the incident, it soaked a ton of insulation that needs to be replaced.
