My brother and his girlfriend have two kids, a boy and a girl. I have two kids of my own as well (also a boy and a girl) and up until a few months ago they lived with us. They still have me watch them from time to time and i have no problem with it. They are 3 and 1 years old , and they’re very comfortable with me. The mom doesn’t like me that much but of course she enjoys the free child care so she has me watch them. Anyway, my brother had gone off on business for a day and a half and she had me watch them while she went to work. However she works at a dental office that closes by 5 pm and she didnt show up to pick up the kids until 9. No phone call or anything. Fine whatever. But then i get a text message from my brother after she picks them up asking if something happened while i was watching them. I asked what he meant and he sent me a screenshot of a message she sent to him. It said my nephews “anal region” looked red. Then she said it looked like if someone molested him. A bit angry i called her and asked her what the problem was. She said his butt looked red, and wanted to know if anyone touched him when changing his diaper (he isnt potty trained yet). Of course i was offended but i asked if i could go over to see what she meant and she said she would send me a picture. I being a bit ticked off said no because i dont want her accusing me of child pornography next. So i show up, and she shows me. Guys.. it was a bug bite. On his upper butt cheek at that! I told her if she was so concerned we could go to the police station right now, and she got angry and said I was blowing it out of proportion.

I went home, messaged my brother and told him I would not be watching his children anymore and i would appreciate it if they never put me in a position to be alone with them anymore either . They are my niece and nephew and I love them, but an accusation like that can get my own kids taken away until someone investigates if she says it again. And also i was offended. Im a single mom so obviously she knew i was the only one taking care of them, we lived together for years and part of the reason she doesnt like me is because i would tell her things like not to smoke in front of the children, or i would have to remind her to put them in car seats when driving. So obviously im the one that had to look out for their safety 🙄 anyway, now my brother is angry at me for saying i dont want to be alone with them, and says i am being childish. Am i? I just can not believe she would accuse me of that and an accusation like that shouldn’t be thrown around lightly.
