When is a blanket safe?

When is it safe to leave a blanket in the crib with my baby? She's 3 months old now and sleeps fine, but I'm not sure when it would be safe to leave a blanket with her eventually.

Definitely not recommended before they are a year old. If you are concerned about warmth, try a sleep sack! My son is almost 2 and still loves his.

In Scandinavia and Finland babies sleeps with duvets from birth, even at the hospital. And both SIDS rated, and infant mortality rates here is among, if not the lowest in the world.

Both my sons have used crochet blankets. My 10mo son is obsessed with his. We have 4 for him. 2 are usually on the edge of his crib and one in the crib with him then one in the living room to snuggle with before naps and bed time.

When they're 1. My daughter is 16 months and never really sleeps with her blanket I give her. She just rolls around on top of it, so even younger than 1, it's really not going to serve a purpose other than to risk strangulation.
