Do you feels doctors are inducing unnecessarily?

I just feel like everybody here is getting induced for everything under the sun! No offense, just an observation and a topic for debate.

Elective induction at 39 weeks is perfectly fine for mom/baby and it’s a personal choice. Why even make this post?

All the cases I’ve seen it was necessary, so I say no. Even being past your due date and getting induced can be necessary so baby doesn’t get too stressed or pass meconium in the womb, because when they go too far past the due date a lot of times they do poop, and that’s dangerous for the baby. So i think the doctor induces based on their best judgement call and experience.

Induction is way more common these days, so I would agree with you that there are a lot of posts about induction on this app! Research suggests that induction of labor at 39 weeks for low-risk women and high risk women (even earlier) instead of waiting for labor to begin naturally reduces maternal complications and the rate of cesarean (C-section) delivery, so it’s not surprising that more and more doctors are suggesting induction... do what works! I would take being induced over c-section any day of the week!!

I mean I don't. I am not an OB, so how can I say that doctors are not inducing for the right reasons? I don't have a medical degree and I trust my doctor personally.

This sure seems judgy. It’s not even November yet, so of course most of the mamas with birth stores already are going to be majority induced/c-section because of outstanding conditions. How bout we just monitor our own birth stories, shall we?

My hospital allows for elective inductions at 39 weeks. It is based on a study they did that proves inducing labor at 39 weeks reduces the need for cesarean birth and Also lowers the complications for both mom and baby, including lower rates of hypertension for mom and lower rates of respiratory support needed for baby. Feel free to check out the study. It was conducted by the feinberg school of medicine at northwestern university. Northwestern memorial hospital is ranked #13 best hospital in the USA.

We all have different bodies, pregnancies and babies. Reasoning is very individual. Some may say my reasons aren’t good enough. I refuse to go over 40 weeks due to mental health. My doctor is completely okay with that.

I don’t know how anyone that’s not a professional in that field would be able to judge whether it’s necessary or not. 
I was induced with my second baby on her due date because I had been hospitalized for 3 days already due to my HG anyway, I couldn’t stop vomiting even with the IV so they offered to induce me. Would I have survived waiting a few more days for her to come on her own? Sure, definitely while getting IV fluids. So some might still deem it unnecessary, considering we would have most likely both been “ok” either way. 
Am I happy that they gave me a choice and just got things going whether than struggling for even one more day? YES, definitely. 
What you consider necessary may not be someone else’s idea of necessary. 
But as long as it doesn’t harm the baby 🤷🏽‍♀️
Every situation is different. Some of my friends got induced because it was the only way their significant other could be there (military). Some because they wouldn’t have someone to watch their other kids if the birth wasn’t planned. And again some might argue that that’s unnecessary. 
Not all reasons are medical. Some are also for one’s sanity. 
To each their own.

Yeah I feel I've read a few stories on here of inducing where I'm surprised. I certainly think a lot of them are necessary, but I feel like there are some where it doesn't sound urgent to me. My doctor is turning out to be very adament about not inducing me just based off baby size but I see a lot of posts about being induced early because of their baby measuring big. 🤷‍♀️
