10 month old help!

So my son will take his 2 naps at daycare, but when we get home he's tired and cranky. We've been trying to keep him awake until bedtime 8-830. But tonight his dad gave in and is letting him nap 🙄. Are we doing something wrong?! Should he want a 3rd nap??? Do I move his bed time up?? Help, I'm sorry if I sound dumb, he's my first baby lol! And I'm reading 10 month olds should only be taking 2 naps a day.. 🤦‍♀️
