Stemming from the Ellen Degeneres debate: Can you really be friends with someone who you have nothing in common with and have opposing views?

.

Here’s the scenario behind the debate.

I had a best friend growing up that lived next door. We went to different high schools and lost touch about 10 years ago.

Recently, she added me on Facebook after seeing each other in the grocery store and talking about getting together for a coffee to catch up, after her baby is born.

After a week of being friends on Facebook, I am appalled and genuinely want to unfriend her and not ever get together.

Her Facebook is filled with political rants, pro-Trump, anti-(banned topic), anti-vaxx posts, anti-lgbtq rights, racism, anti-immigrant, conservative propaganda, completely hypocritical bible verses, anti-woman’s rights, pro-guns, government conspiracies, and just general bashing people she doesn’t agree with.

I’m not debating her beliefs here, rather could you get past completely opposite opinions on basically everything, and still be friends or even acquaintances with someone?
