So much cramping

Do cervical checks cause lots of cramping ? I hadn’t had one until last night when I went into labor and delivery due to having lots of contractions pretty close together . Was only 2 cm dilated and was sent home. But all last night I had terrible cramps that kept me awake, I tried to sleep around them but the longest between them was like 30 minutes and that was only once, the rest were 10 and blew. Is that normal? Do you guys think I’m moving into active labor? I tried taking Tylenol but that did absolutely nothing.
