Hi! Just curious, I’m a FTM with an 11 week old. Do you let your baby sleep as much as they want throughout the day, or do you try to keep them awake?

An 11 week old is too young to be put on a schedule or routine. They eat, per, poop, play and sleep.
Around 6 months is when you should start introducing a more structured schedule or routine.
An infants average sleep is between 14 and 17 hours in a 24 hour period, with up times for feedings and changing of course

They need the rest so let that sweet baby sleep. Also no need to wake for feeding unless directed so by your doctor and baby is back to birth weight.

I always let my son sleep, I fed him and changed him and he’d stay awake a little then sleep again. He was already sleeping through the night at 2 months old

I always woke my babies to feed if they went over 3 hours without eating when they were newborns. Other than that I let them sleep until they got older.

I was told by my doctor that prior to 4 months is too early to attempt that. I asked specifically about that same thing.

Babies only sleep when they're tired and need sleep. If they need something, they should have it. 🤷🏼‍♀️
