Just got the skyla put in yesterday (I’m on my period) and had unprotected sex last night. I’m a little nervous-how soon is it effective?

In a week it’s affective the only iud that’s affective straight after putting in is the Paraguard

If you had it put in while on your period it is my understanding that it is effective immediately, as opposed to being effective a week later if you are not on your period. However, I’m not an OB-GYN and your doctor might have something different to say with personal insights into your health. It’s my recommendation that you just talk to your OB-GYN about it.
