My fur baby has cataract in both his eyes

Sandhya

My fur baby - Raymond who is 5.5yrs now was diagnosed with diabetes this March. His sugar levels were very high (700) and we started him on insulin shots twice a day. Last 2 months we have been giving him home cooked food and thank god that his sugar levels are now within the normal range of 100’s. Vet said that was great! However, he’s been having trouble with his vision, hesitates and is confused while we take him on walks. We love him so much, and it’s just so hard to see him like this. He used to be one super energetic baby and now can’t even see the toys near him while we try to play with him, sometimes can’t seem to even look at us directly in the eye. His vet said he is developing cataracts in both his eyes. I am feeling so sad about this, and just breaks my heart to see him go through this. Is there an eye drop that any of you can suggest that we can try on him to see if it works? Atleast make him feel comfortable to wander around? Please help! We are taking him to an ophthalmologist coming week to get his eye tested in more detail. Most probably they are going to suggest surgery, but I am dead scared to go for it. Is there going to be any side effects from the surgery? Is there any other alternative options other than surgery?
