Hi guys, I was wondering.. did you all go the full 12 months before speaking to your dr about struggles with trying to conceive? 
We’ve been ttc for 7 months and are starting to worry - I know this may sound stupid but you just get so involved and what was your process through it all? 
I need some help and guidance ☹️

I went to my doc after four month TTC because i was using OPKs and bbt to confirm ovulation and it was showing a short luteal phase. My doc ended up referring me to a specialist at 9 months TTC based on our work together not getting me pregnant. I’m in the us. Some docs are great about it and others are stupid and make you wait a year. If you’re not using OPKs and bbt, read taking charge of your fertility and make sure you’re timing things PERFECTLY. That will also help make your case to the doc

We lied. It’s awful, but we both just KNEW there was something wrong. We saw a specialists around 9 months and said it had been a year. We were right. Male factor infertility, two failed IUIs by the year mark and now at 14 months trying we are doing our first IVF round.

I'm in Scotland and have had two mcs but only now, 2.5 years after last loss, am I being taken seriously. I still haven't been given any fertility meds but have had day 21 bloods drawn, std checks, hubby sperm checked, AMH done-they have found nothing. Keep pushing as it takes absolutely ages. Good luck

Both my PCP and GYN made me wait until the 12m mark. I wish I would have found someone who cared earlier because they CAN help before the year mark.

I know it sounds awful but just tell them it’s been a year. I wish I would have done that. I have low amh and after 3 years with 4 failed IUI attempts still no baby, not even a positive pregnancy test. We are now doing ivf. At least if you tell your doc it’s been a year they can just get the initial testing started like basic hormone checks and a semen analysis. This way you can just get a little insight. If everything goes ok with those tests maybe try on your own a little longer.

I started after 6 month bec i knew i had PCOs then at 8 month we discovered that we have a male factor too (very low mobility and morphology and the count is at the border line ) then i did the 21 test and we found out i am not ovulating too 😔so we did our first iui at the 12 month exactly since there is too many issues going with both of us (i am 27 and my husband is 30 ) now we are moving on to IVF on December

I spoke to my PCP about how long to try after about 2 months, and she said to wait 12 months. (At this point, we were both 31.) My husband and I both just knew something was wrong after 4 months of OPKs, special lube, and everything else you can do, so we called a local fertility clinic and asked about being tested without a referral. Turns out, they have initial testing for both partners discounted big time because they know so many PCPs insist on waiting, which is NOT their policy. It was a good thing we advocated for ourselves and went around my doctor because we immediately discovered my husband has an almost non-existent sperm count. After one round of ICSI IVF, we realized I also have AWFUL eggs. After 4 rounds of IVF retrieval and still no viable embryos, we decided round 5 would be with an egg donor. 🤞🤞
Hopefully, it extreme situation doesn’t scare you, but I hope it does encourage you to advocate for yourself and to not wait if you are concerned! It can’t hurt to just run some blood tests!!

I met with a reproductive endocrinologist after only a few months, as I was tracking ovulation and knew I hadn’t ovulated and hadn’t had a period at all in those months. I started on meds right away.... and a year and a half later I’m still not pregnant!

Most docs will say 12 months TTC if under 35 and if over 35 then 6 months TTC. Good luck!

We waited a full year at age 36 and it was a mistake.
