Anyone afraid to take their antidepressant?

I was prescribed Zoloft recently for postpartum anxiety and depression, but I'm terrified to take it. I'm so worried the side effects are going to be severe. I over think ever twinge in my body and I'm scared. Does anyone have any positive experiences they could share with me?

Personally I’ve taken Zoloft before,  recently I’ve started a different med but I’ve been on a number over 4 years. 
They’ll effect you different to each person and if you feel like they aren’t working for you that’s ok you might need your doctor to play around to find the right balance of a medication. There’s nothing horribly scary about them I honestly think medication is one of the things that has helped me most.  it’s a personal choice to take them and at the end of the day wether you decide to take them or not that’s ok

It’s definitely different for everyone. I was on cymbalta at one point and it was awful.
But I am currently on Zoloft and have been for quite a while and it works great! I definitely feel much more like myself than I did. If you thinks it’s worth it, go for it! Start w a small dose and try it for two weeks or so. If you hate it, taper it off. I really didn’t get any side effects except a bit of nausea (which I always get when I start new meds and it’s super normal and goes away). 
It might just be the key to feeling like yourself again!
But don’t let a doctor bully you into continuing if you hate it 💙

I’m going thru the same thing right now. My anxiety has been terrible and I’ve never had depression before but I’m feeling like I’m starting to get depressed... I’ve been prescribed Zoloft 25mg but I’ve taken it legit once. I have a seizure disorder and had my first seizure in five years last October so I’m terrified this medicine will cause me to have a seizure again.

Maybe go see a therapist to work through it if your worried about meds. Seems like a healthier alternative anyway 🙂

I was so so SOO against taking medicine after the third one I had been prescribed didn’t work for me ... I didn’t take any more up until this year because I thought they were bullshit. Three years without meds, and let me tell you... NOT a good idea in my case. After I finally agreed to go back on them it was like I could breathe again and finally see the benefits. It’s a lot of trial and error finding which one works best for you, but trust the process ! I haven’t had any negative symptoms yet.

Yup. I had horrible side effects from every anxiety and antidepressant I’ve ever taken. Turns out I have gene mutations and my body doesn’t handle drugs well. Dr never checked beforehand of course. I would definitely look into other options

Zoloft slaps, but of course that’s just for my experience. Side affects depends from person to person but with Zoloft it tend to be on the milder side, and with that they only last for a short time. Obviously talk to ya doc if it doesn’t but like I believe in u homie 👍

starting Medicine is always scary! When I took Zoloft it just made me very tired but sadly didn’t help much for me and my illness. Don’t over think the side effects because your body could start playing tricks on you. Also I believe Zoloft is a slow build so it genenrrally doesn’t have bad side effects. Best of luck!

Everyone is different but Zoloft was great for me after having my daughter. So I elected to start again now that I’ve had my son. I never experienced any side affects from it!
