Ow, ow, ow.
I’m on Day 6 of breastfeeding (baby is 11 days old but was in NICU with formula feeding for hypoglycemia for a few days). My baby seems to get a good latch based on what I’m seeing and reading, but my nips are getting so sore.
There is currently no cracking or bleeding, just soreness that takes my breath away when he first latches and then dies down once he gets going. My bra and the spray from the shower are painful, as well—despite liberal and regular use of lanolin cream after air drying from each feeding.
Should I expect this pain to subside once I get in a groove or is any pain a sign of a bad latch or other problem?
