I was getting tested for urine test STIs, nurse asked me if I used condoms during sex, I said yes. She then asks me about birth control I said I stopped taking it a while ago, she looks at me like I killed a baby and said you might be pregnant. (I literally just said I use condoms, plus they didn't break.) It's my body, I didn't want to take it anymore yet she made me feel shamed for not being on birth control. Why do nurses do this?

The nurse was being judgemental and that is so unprofessional. 
I once went to a new OBGYN, and she blamed my emergency c-section on the fact that I used a midwife!! Then she shamed me for not agreeing to any of the birth control options she offered (I wanted to think about it first). I never went back. 
Drs and nurses are there to help and educate, they need to keep their judgment to themselves.

Condoms are only 97% effective when used correctly but most dont use them correctly so they go down to like 88% effective.

Tbh.. right after giving birth my doctors were peer pressuring me to get back on birthcontrol even though I wanted to let my body get back to normal first. I'm still pretty mad that I went through with it because it made my milk supply stop after like a month of pumping. I'm a young mom. But even at that no one should ever feel like that just because the nurse "feels" you HAVE to be on birthcontrol. It's your body and not theirs. 💯
