Differences? Pros/cons?

Question

We haven’t spoke with a doctor yet as we are planning an IUI for early next year. But I just want to be a little more educated.
What are the differences between an unmedicated and medicated IUI?
What makes you eligible for medication versus not? 
Which could be more successful?
Pros/cons for both?
SO. MANY. QUESTIONS.

I did not need medication, but we did medicated anyway because it increases your chances of pregnancy by helping you produce more eggs and getting a trigger shot so that the doctors know when you will be ovulating for the IUI.  I am glad we did medicated 3 cycles now even though I felt pretty crappy side effects.  We are in our TWW of cycle #3 with the best stats my fiance and I have had so far.  My lining is finally perfect at a 7 and his motile sperm count was at 15 million and 2 eggs released, one from each tube.  Crossing our fingers!!

I am currently in my 2nd medicated cycle. I have a blocked tube and pcos. We tried for 2.5 years without luck. My OBGYN has me do three cycles of clomid and the last one, in February, resulted in a chemical. We did our first medicated iui in June which also resulted in a chemical. It also took a lot of injections before my body responded. My doctor tweaked things this time and my body had responded much better. I go Wednesday for my beta!
